Privacy statement
Last updated on
This website provides information about the shoulder surgeons of ORTHOCA and about where and how to make an appointment. The site itself collects no personal data. Below is what does happen to data when you visit the site or click through to an appointment system.
Who is responsible
The data controller for this website is Dr. Maxim Vanderstappen, orthopaedic surgeon, c/o ORTHOCA, Kielsevest 14, 2018 Antwerpen, Belgium. Questions about your data can be sent to max.vanderstappen@gmail.com.
What this website does not do
The site has no contact form, no account, no newsletter and no search function that stores anything. It sets no cookies and uses no advertising pixels or other tracking techniques. Fonts and maps are served from our own server, so no data is sent to third parties when you visit.
Phone numbers and e-mail addresses on the site are ordinary links: you click, and your own phone or e-mail application opens. The site stores nothing about that.
Technical data during a visit
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare receives your IP address, browser type and the page requested each time you open a page. That data is kept briefly in log files to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. We do not use it to identify you or follow your behaviour. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working and secure website.
Visitor statistics
To know which pages are read and whether the site works well on different devices, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It works without cookies and without any persistent identifier of your device or browser: nothing is stored on your device and you are not recognised from one visit to the next. We only see aggregated figures, such as the number of visits per page, the country and the type of device. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a well-functioning website; Cloudflare acts as processor.
Making an appointment
Appointments are never made on this website. You click through to a system run by another party, and only there do you enter any data.
For consultations at ORTHOCA and AZ Monica you use the AZ Monica patient portal or call the secretariat. AZ Monica is responsible for processing your data in that portal; the hospital’s privacy statement is on its website.
For the monthly consultation in the Liège region you book through Rosa. Rosa processes the data you enter there to record the appointment and place it in the surgeon’s diary. Rosa’s privacy statement applies.
For a consultation with Dr Jansen at PITCH (Edegem) you call PITCH or use their website; PITCH has its own privacy statement.
Your medical record
Your medical record is not part of this website. It is governed by the rules of the hospital or practice where you are treated and by the Belgian Patients’ Rights Act. Questions about your record should go to your treating surgeon or the hospital’s ombuds service.
Links to other websites
The site links to third-party websites such as orthoca.be, azmonica.be, rosa.be and pitch.care. Once you click through, that website’s privacy statement applies. The page for referring clinicians also contains links and QR codes to secure messaging platforms for healthcare professionals; the platform’s terms apply there too.
Your rights
Insofar as we process data about you, you have the right to access it, have it corrected or erased, restrict its processing, object to it and receive it in a common format. Send your request to the e-mail address above; you will receive a reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels.
Changes
If the site changes, for example by adding cookieless visitor statistics, we will update this statement and show the new date at the top.
